VOYAGE 12: ALBATROSSES
#piano #neoclasical #impressionist
We saw only one albatross between Hawaii and Tahiti, but several well west of French Polynesia. As far as I could tell, they looked like Royal Albatrosses, but whether Northern or Southern, who can tell...

Whatever, they were lazy albatrosses, leaving the soaring bit at times to land (?) on the now very waving waves, perhaps hoping for something disturbed by the ship. Or perhaps tired from escaping the cyclone system that seemed intent on pursuing us even as we tried to avoid it. But beautiful in the air, as always.

#albeniz is still lurking in the hindbrain, it seems.

I think I'm doing a Reverse Countdown of your songs...

All of these lovely pieces remind me that I've listened to podcasts of piano composers who have playlists up at Spotify/Youtube/Wherever and are getting tons of plays on the playlists since it's such nice "homework background" stuff. Might want to check out doing that sometime! Lovely song! ❤️

This is an absolutely beautiful piece of music, Tim, and is definitely evocative of the freedom of being on the water or in flight, or, if you're an albatross, perhaps both. Great, great work!
