Liner Notes

No music yet, it's too late at night to try. If someone's interested, please be my guest ;-)

Edit 18. September 24: Demo File added, but I would still love it, if somebody else put their music on it.

"Sleepaway Camp" is a 1983 American slasher film, which I haven't seen, but read its Wiki. I got the title assigned for the #movietitlechallenge and for once my song is actually related to the movie.
Thanks for @corinnecurcio 's skirmish 'Let it slide' which inspired me to sit down and write this song.

Lyrics

Sleepaway Camp

Chorus A:
They tell me to let it slide
They tell me to let it go
When people bully Angela
But they don't know, they don't know

Chorus B:
How all their words and laughs are crippling
Lost the father, lost the sibling
Pain goes on and on and on
Nothing's right when all is wrong

1. Verse:
An accident, a second one
And still the bullies have their fun
At the sleepaway camp
Then someone on his meanness chokes
No, these killings are no jokes
Someone is Angela's champ

Chorus A:
They tell me to let it slide
They tell me to let it go
When people bully Angela
But they don't know, they don't know

2. Verse:
Stabbed to death inside the shower
It seems the killer's really dour
Someone is Angela's champ
Teenagers and nasty kids
You can find here bits by bits
At the sleepaway camp

Chorus A+B:
They tell me to let it slide
They tell me to let it go
When people bully Angela
But they don't know, they don't know
How all their words and laughs are crippling
Lost the father, lost the sibling
Pain goes on and on and on
Nothing's right when all is wrong

Chorus B:
How all their words and laughs are crippling
Lost the father, lost the sibling
Pain goes on and on and on
Nothing's right when all is wrong

Much better with music! I really like the extra empasis you put on phrases like They don’t know. And good rhyming - crippling and sibling work surprisingly well.

@coolparadiso @newukenewyork A bit late, but thanks for your comments on my "Sleepaway Camp" lyrics.
@newukenewyork I'm sure you could do it justice with a ukulele :-)
@odilongreen I put some music to "Sleepaway Camp", but I would still like to hear your version
@janeg @cts There is now music to lyrics you commented on
Thanks again!

I really like the flow of these lyrics. I don’t know that acoustic ukulele is the right treatment or I’d be offering to try setting this to music. 🙂

Thanks, it's good to know my lyrics got my feelings across. Even just reading the wiki I couldn't help sympathizing with Angela.
And thanks for the word 'ubiquitous' 😄

Never watched that style of film but you have made this one intriguing.

I remember finally seeing this movie when it ran on cable. Slasher flicks were ubiquitous in the 80s. I have to say you’ve captured the spirit of the movie to the letter. Verse 2 is quite visceral and I like the imagery. It feels sympathetic. It doesn’t read like random acts of violence. Great job on the skirmish and the film challenge.

@odilongreen Thank you so much for your comment, I'm glad it fit the movie even if I didn't watch it. My style is basically 4 or 5 chords on a classic guitar for all of my songs, so I would be more than happy if you take the song and do something with it.

Great job on these, these lyrics really capture the movie's vibe! Sleepaway Camp already has a classic melodic metal theme song (by Frankie Vinci), but these lyrics are every bit as good, and would completely support a second theme song if they ever do an updated remake. I'm hearing it in 80s melodic metal style, as so many 80s slasher theme songs were. I'm hoping someone more fluent than I in that style may snatch this up, but if this is still available later this summer, I may take a stab at it (pun intended).
