Liner Notes
An idea I've had for a long time is a track that is entirely backwards. I don't mean a normal song, reversed, I mean like, Twin Peaks-style audio that is understandable with a weird, uncanny effect due to the audio being backwards.
As a concept, it existed for a long time, and then eventually took shape with lyrics and found a place among this "Memory Ln." project, seeing as this portion of the album is about going back. The actual recording was last week, and, through mostly intimidation, it took me a long time to prepare and get there. It took a few good hours, but it's a short song and I figured out the method to get it right.
My process was:
1. Record the vocal lines one at a time.
2.Reverse it.
3. Write down phonetically what the reversed audio sounds like.
4. Memorize the reversed melodies.
5. Record the backwards-but-not-backwards-vocal line
6. Reverse THAT.
7. Do it each and every verse.
8. For bonus, I decided to harmonize backwards as well, as if I wasn't confused enough
The end product is...well it's not a club banger, that's for sure! But it's short and serves the concept well, and I'm glad I did it, despite never wanting to do it again lol!
As a treat, in the lyrics portion I copy and pasted the phonetic way I had to sing the verses, the way I wrote them in my phone. The things we do for a minute-long transitionary track on an album fourteen people will hear, am I right?

Lyrics
Never odd or even;
The staging of the seasons,
The crashing of the curtain
On the things you know for certain.
Facing forward into light,
With bated breath
And starry eyes.
I've dreamt it all
A thousand times,
So I will see you again
On Memory Lane.
