“Dirty” - #fawm 50/90 2024 song 16

These lyrics are fresh from last week, and they came together in an unexpected way. First, I had to pull the ”shivers of sharks” line out of another song, where it wasn’t working. I transferred it to a blank document and let it sit, and for some reason it reminded me of someone I knew in college who was pretty cute but always smelled dirty. I know from their roommate that they took regular showers, no shaming here. And they still got plenty of action. So I wrote a song from the viewpoint of someone madly attracted to a dirty-in-more-ways-than-one (in this case) guy.

Not a typical song for me but very fun to set to music and sing. There might be a little construction noise in the background.

My first listen to one of yours this 5090, and I sure picked a good one! I don't know if I could hit --let alone maintain-- those high notes even if parts of me were in a vice. Your voice sounds great here, but I was jonesing for some uke music and you delivered that too. Lyric is provocatively clever. Favorite lines are 'Send shivers of sharks swimming

I like your vocal style here ... cool and seductive. Such a catchy chorus and lots of great lines (sharks, growl/wink, layers of filth). Really enjoyable!

i think this song represents a side of women that many men do not understand. maybe it does not represent you personally, but i feel you have seen such crushes play out on other playing fields. the reference to "dirty" has its obvious conntations, but can also represent any undesirable quality in a person to whom one is attracted. Ah, the things that inspire songwriting. I had never thought of using B.O. myself before--but it IS a VERY important factor, isn't it. I mean--kind of make-it-or-break it. So...kind of serious. You'd think there's be more songs about that...

Maybe you'll start a trend. Maybe I should write my own... Loved the "shivers of sharks" line, by the way. ❤️
