Journey To Funky Town!

Liner Notes

This is not a town I've visited before!

Not sure why but I decided on creating a funk track, well out of my comfort zone (ok so being out of the comfort zone is the point!). This one was complicated to produce because it is a real mixture of techniques using both virtual instruments and the Fantom. The drums are midi patterns created from the Fantom but virtual drums from Native Instruments....anyway....

I enjoyed this one, but it was hard because having got so far I reached the "what the heck do I do with this" moment....not perfect but not too bad for a first foray into #funk

Used to create this track:
Reaper DAW
Fantom tone-wheel organ sound and midi tracks
NI Abbey Road 70s drummer, Electric Sunburst Deluxe, Prime Bass, Session Guitarist Electric Vintage/Electric Mint
NI Piano Colors

#funk #experimental (experimental for me anyway)

I think you just created experimental funk as a genre. The funk elements are there, but you brought more of an edginess than is normally found in a funk song. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Nice funk groove. Gotta have that plucky mute guitar! The only thing that would make it more funk would be if you let go of the 4 chord cycle and broke out into another song form.

What a great combination of sounds. And it funks for miles! Welcome to the F side!

I applaud your foray into uncharted funk territory. This thing drives with so much swag. You've definitely got a feel for it and that bass line is potent! I'm loving the mix, too. Everything is heard. I wish I could have stayed in Funky Town a bit longer. Aces on this one.

Love the virtual guitar. It is surely funky. :)

Feels like it belongs in gritty funk-town video game. Questing, and solving.
