a song about my dog, Merle. she's in the video, along with my other dog, Vinny (and my cat, Benny).

the footage of me is actual footage of me doing one of the vocal takes and one of the guitar takes. it’s not a lip sync video.

in the lyrics i make references to songs by the ramones, the stooges, minor threat, the clash, bikini kill, bad brains, and the sex pistols.

the gear:
i built, wired, and painted that jazzmaster myself. i’m playing it through a fender mustang micro headphone amp. i’m using the same guitar through an octave pedal (micro pog) for bass. playing the drums on a midi keyboard. i’m singing into a drum microphone for no apparent reason. it’s a Shure PGA56

The constant references to bands and songs is really cool - have you ever heard 29 x The Pain by The Wildhearts? That's a really nice song, but functions more as a shopping list of cool music; this uses that kind of shopping list stuff as a backdrop to do a great tribute to a hard rocking canine. I like the fact that it starts at 11 in terms of intensity and just stays there - it earns it. It sounds great.

What I love so much about the references is even if somehow you don't know what they mean, the song is so catchy and fun even before that element comes in. The references just make it more fun. Cute gremlins too.

Love the references, love the hand built jazzmaster, love the dogs (and cat, obvs). To be honest, that kick mic actually sounds awesome on vocals 🤷‍♂️, and the doubling works really well. This song made me feel cool just for listening to it. But still not as cool as your dog.

The iggy reference was one of many notable things. As usual I love your friggin guitar tone, all the references were great! Rebel grrrrrl!!! Plus I get to look at the dog which is one of my favorite things to do. Yes!

This is so much fun! Loved the punk energy and the cool delivery. Fun vid too. This is the second pet song I've heard in just a few days. Makes me want to write another song about my dog, cause pets are the best.
