Big Club

Liner Notes

"It's a BIG club, you ain't in it"

- George Carlin

Sometimes songs just come out a little bit weird, brittle almost. I feel a bit disconnected from things at the moment and maybe it's a reflection of that.

the lofi vocals in the verse are quite deliberate to give a feeling of disconnection or being on the outside looking in but the chorus is strangely melodic and bit discordant with the rest of the song.

Then throw in a twangy guitar solo which itself is quite lofi and of course an orchestra, why not?

Certainly not perfect but somehow I could not get myself to go back and polish the imperfections,

Anyways odd or not, here it is.

Lyrics

Always something that you knew
You were on the outside what could you do?
Gaze in thru the window
Try the locks upon the door

They just want to keep you out
On the outside scream and shout
Why can’t you listen to me?
Why can’t you hear me?

There’s a great big club
Where all the beautiful people play
But there’s no way you are coming in
Not today

If you don’t like it
Send it back to sender now
Get you money back
On a wasted life

Try not to fear
It might not happen this year
It might not happen at all
But fear not, you will not fall

Love the musical arrangment. The "radio-eq'd" vocal is an interesting choice. Very, very nice lyrics--I enjoyed this a lot! ❤️

after your spate of intrumentals, i find this return to lyrical writing a step back inside to where you once belonged. its the others with nothing to say who are on the outside, each time you post a song, i look forward to hearing what you have to say. your mrlodies also are just as slick as ever and that is a cool low-key guitar dolo.

The hopefulness of the last verse really took me by surprise. It adds an unexpected depth. Nice guitar solo too!
