Liner Notes

Once again, I get out a guitar, thinking that I'm going to be headed one direction but end up writing something totally off the beaten path. I do love it when that happens, even if I don't quite know what to do with the final result. This one kind of reminded me of places far away, even if I don't know what those places are. I'm looking forward to some travel this year and maybe that played into this one.

I played my Breedlove 6 string and my Tacoma 12 string acoustic guitars as well as my Dean acoustic bass. I had some other ideas, but decided to keep this one simple and move on. Capo on the 6th fret, by the way, so that it would give a different higher sound.

The bass adds a whole dimension to this I wasn't expecting. The chords never struck me as having a sinister edge til the bass entered, and now the whole piece seems to have this really compelling dark energy to it. The addition of the second guitar makes the mix so incredibly rich, it's like a bit of light to fight against the darkness, which creates this fascinating battle of vibes for the second half of the song.
