Signs

Liner Notes
The lyrics to this song were inspired by an experience I had long ago when I heard what sounded like my grandfather whispering my name as I was waking up from a nap. He had passed away about 15 years before. Years later, after my grandmother had passed, I was thinking of her as I was about to fall asleep in the room she used to sleep in. There was an electric candle in the window. I asked her to show me that she was with me and the candle blinked off and then on again. Sometimes I feel signs that people I love are still around. This is a song about that.
The guitar is a bit repetitive but I just wanted something to put the lyrics to. I might work on this a bit more after FAWM.

Lyrics
Did you really say my name?
The one that no one calls me anymore
That's how I knew it was you
No one calls me that name anymore
I was halfway in between asleep and smelling dinner
That's where you could find me
I heard you whisper
I look for you in electricity
I look for you in the sky
I listen for you on the radio
and I'm not sure why
I was afraid to blink my eyes
In case I'd miss your loving face
but I was also so afraid
that you might actually be there
If you shine the light 2 times
I'll know you're with me (now)
If you shine the light 3 times
I'll know you're with me forever
... ... ...
I look for you in electricity
I look for you in the sky
I listen for you on the radio
and I'm not sure why
Can you really call my name?
Like you call me on the telephone
I promise that I'll always answer
I promise I'll always be home
I look for you in electricity
I look for you in the sky
I listen for you on the radio
and I'm not sure why

I have a song I wrote of my own for FAWM this year about hearing a voice from a lost relative. It’s called “I never told you”. That can be very special moment in my experience.
