Liner Notes

What a sweet prompt. Wrote a little bop on my loop pedal to my high school self who often felt insignificant and invisible. Felt good to send her some love!

Also realized, in hindsight, that this song fulfills the Oracle Challenge card that was pulled for me this year:
Sometimes you may feel like you don’t fit in, as if you are invisible to others. As your Goddess, I see you, I know you, and I believe in you."

Lyrics

There is nothing wrong with you
by Rachel Eve Feb 11 2025

Some days
You feel like a rock just floating through space
And it seems
That you have nothing to add to this place

Some days
Go by without any good in them
And you know
There’s gotta be more, something better, waiting up ahead

CHORUS:
If you could see you as I see you now
Feeling lost inside an empty crowd
If you could reach out and know it’s true
There is nothing wrong with you

Some days
That old doubt, it still creeps my mind
But I know now
Nothing lasts, it just takes love and time

CHORUS

Oh, yeah, I see you
You are perfect just as you are
Oh, can you see me?
Reaching out, from not so far

CHORUS

Brilliant idea with the card! I love the lyrical flow and your heartfelt performance. This piece is incredibly relatable. You've captured something truly special. Your lines are amazing. Life teaches us along the way, but oh, how I wish we had known then what we know now. Fantastic work on the challenge, and thank you so much for participating

Love this message (I could have used it too, in high school!). Great images too: the rock floating through space, and “lost in an empty crowd”. And of course the backing vocals/looper are super cool and add great texture. If only our high school selves had known one day we would create so freely like this!

There's such skill in using loops as well as this. I'm in awe! So many cool textures in there to listen to, but the star is your soulful, spiritual melody. Beautiful singing.

You must have great fun that looper when you can harmonise so well. Like a portable backing group! And great sentiment for all of us. I spend so much time messing around with chords on the piano or guitar and so I love the way a great great song can be based on one chord. Excellent

I love the looper! I’ve never used one and the effect is so cool and perfect for this song. I could relate to being a high schooler who felt out of place and it would have been so nice to hear those words of affirmation!

First, this is such a delightful and fabulously executed musical piece! It is so lovely with those great lead and backing vocals! Fantastic melody! Second, the lyrics are brilliantly insightful and important! That feeling from high school is so familiar and these words feel like a warm understanding hug.

Excellent use of looper! You've inspired me to play with mine a little this FAWM. Beautiful little love letter that feels like it's to a very universal "past self"... I mean, I at least ASSUME feeling like a rock floating through space with nothing to add to this place is a sort of universal ennui.

Great sound and production. The message would be a comfort to a younger self.

You’re so good at the catchy hooks! And the loop works perfect for this.. talking to yourself

That loop is very catchy! I couldn't help singing along to it. Everything from the arrangement to the lyrics is nice and warm.

Superb harmonies! The production is awesome, and your vocals are superb. I love how you looped the choir and stayed on Bb for the whole song. It's a great technique, but your vocals are really what draws the listener. Great post for this skirmish!

This is so good! I love what you did and I want to listen over and over!

I love this prompt, and absolutely love what you’ve done with it. The groove is great (excellent work with the looper), and the melody is jazzy and crunchy in all the best ways. Plus, those lyrics are so relatable and beautiful. Thanks! I hope to hear this one again!!
