Hello, Me

Skirmish: Throwback Thursday - Old ... (@dudachris)

Liner Notes

I wrote the "warm hand" stanza on the first day of FAWM and couldn't develop it further at the time. Then I scribbled some stuff last night right before going to bed, got this skirmish prompt in the morning, and mashed it all together.

Recording rough (I just wrote this in an hour, yeesh!) It could definitely be a thing! Thanks for the skirmish.

Lyrics

It takes so long to become
To see through the buckets of rain
To know that you deserve to be your home
To build yourself when you are broken with pain

But one day halfway through
You’ll be wondering
Why the air is light, the storm is fading out to sea
A soft voice says, “hi, hello, me.”

It takes so long to become
To keep showing up for yourself
Be the person you can always trust
To keep you moving when you’re going through hell

A warm hand touched my face
A kind eye saw my
Mess the things I guess I don’t want anyone to see
A soft voice said, “hi, hello, me”

One stitch here, one patch there
Thread your needle through
Felt like tiny little scrippy scraps then,
But now it’s one whole you.

I really like the picking on this, including that intro. "Scrippy scraps" is a charming lyric, and this song is charming overall. Lovely vocals! I like the melodic bounce on "one day halfway through." I think a lot of people will relate and find these lovely lyrics uplifting and encouraging and honest.

For some reason the lyrics make me think of dealing with chronic illness and encountering self-love.

This imagery is so unique and cool:
One stitch here, one patch there
Thread your needle through
Felt like tiny little scrippy scraps then,
But now it’s one whole you.

I like it. Interested in hearing a not so rushed version. You have everything you need here. Great Job!

I like the mood and emotional narrative. The paradox works well too. A whole song!
