Casi shared these lyrics with me and I just instantly heard a melody. She was kind enough to let me play around with it. It's just such a beautiful tribute to her friend so I wanted to help bring it to life. Hope you like it Casi!

Wanted to add Casi's notes from her original post:

I am an avid Scuba Diver...an instructor who owns a dive shop. I organize trips around the world. This song is about one of our dive travel family members who passed away unexpectedly at her home. She was someone very important to me, and I have a hard time leading trips without her. I just got back from leading a trip to San Ignacio Mexico; I wrote this about her to assist me with my feelings around the loss.

Elegant piano provides a haunting foundation to this song of loss, reflection, and resilience - great progression, Beth! Wonderful lyrics, Casi - your story is inherently personal, but the lyrics paint a beautiful relationship that is timeless and universal. It was a pleasure being in the songwriting class with you and awesome to see/hear this on FAWM!

Oh, I love the way that chorus soars but still stays heavy. I also like the way the "Dive Buddy" could be literal but also someone who helps you excavate the dark stuff in your life...And there's a kind of underwater feeling to the production...Great collaboration.

This really got me. So sad and empathetic. I like the visuals and the emo that comes through in spades. That driving beat feels somehow stabilizing, which maybe the is part of the comforting feeling. Favorite line: Because you never left the sea.....mmmm.

WOW! I don't even know where to begin. During our songwriting class, I posed the question of am I writing lyrics or poetry. You were able to take these words and put them to the most beautiful melody. It's a SONG! I can't thank you enough! Not to mention, the music is perfect as it captures the true spirit of my friend (especially when we were diving together). Your voice is captivating and so pretty. You are amazingly talented. Forever grateful!

I love reading lyrics and hearing a melody - and the melody you created from these touching lyrics is just perfect. Your emotive vocals are just gorgeous. and made me feel every word. I really like how you treated the 3rd into the 4th line of the chorus. I never would have thought of that pacing. Lovely bridge also. Great collab!

The heartfelt lyric reaches down deep and is a lovely tribute to the memory of someone very special and the tender music delivery beautifully conveys the sentiment. Gorgeous vocals.
