#4track

I'm just goofing off to catch up. I'm actually selling a Reverend Sensei 290 guitar today and this is the last song ever written on it. I think it may even be the first song ever written on it, actually. I've had it about ten years. Barely used, except for one show where it took a dive onstage, resulting in some character chips that reduced the value of the instrument a bit.

Recorded on my Zoom R4 using the Reverend Sensei 290, a Squier Jazz bass loaned to me by @roblyon5150, and a 20 year old Yamaha PSR-170 on the "Hot Organ" setting (allegedly it's the toy that John Legend used to learn piano!). It was gifted to me a week ago, when I spared it from a fate in a dumpster.

Lyrics

You know, I got a message on Marketplace
from a guy named John
I wonder if that's his real name
but my guitar is gone
if I'll take 300 cash
even though I'm asking four
Well, I kinda need the money
and I don't play it anymore

This is the last song I'll ever write
on this old guitar
I could've gotten more for it
if not for the battle scars

Well, You know, it's mostly been in the closet
I never took it on the road
Played "Chinese Rocks" on it a couple of times
but it only played one show.
Damn...

This is kinda tragic, man. It's always tough to let go of that behind the couch guitar that was always there for you

Delightful little tune and definitely rocking! Maybe it will be playing more shows with John or whoever…

Kudos for writing a song about selling a guitar. Such a good idea. And definitely a pleasant goodbye!

I love the vibe! I love its guitar tone and the lyrics. Made me laugh. So relatable.

the song itself works and is good. You could have possibly repeated "This is the last song..." But also you can add that later.

A nice tribute to the Reverend, has a great punky tone! I do a similar thing before selling gear. πŸ™‚
