#punk

I'm behind at the game. I had company the last several days and it would have been rude to disappear to write and record songs. Here's my first song, lyrics written at the breakfast table and finished before noon. Please pardon the lack of editing and there are some performance errors. This is a song inspired by my youth in the early 1990s in the middle of that wave of punk music and fanzine culture. I imagine myself as an all-girl band on this track.

Lyrics

She's down at Kinko's in the middle of the night
She typed her manifesto and the story of her life
She's got underground comics and a PO Box
Doc Marten boots and 70s tube socks

She's a fanzine girl, fanzine girl, fanzine girl
She's a fanzine girl, fanzine girl, fanzine girl

She's got an Ibanez bass she's learning to play
and posters on the wall of Ian McKaye
She's saving up her money for the all-ages show
and issues of Maximum Rock n Roll

She's a fanzine girl, etc.

She lives on Diet Pepsi and Marlboro Lights
She’s got an entry level job and Poppy Z. Brite
Blue Manic Panic soaking in her hair
Shrimp ramen noodles waftin' in the air

Bridge (instrumental, poorly executed)

Chorus out

Kinko’s! Takes me back to the day. :) This is proper rockage. Great guitars! I’d love to hear a girl band play this.

Oh man, I *love* these lyrics! This was also my early 90s life, although I wasn't bold enough for the blue hair. I love all the great details, all of which ring incredibly true. Would love to hear the music, even if you think it's poorly executed.
