Pa likes to tell his stories.
He makes them morality tales.
To make the story fit the moral,
He’ll sacrifice all the details.

It’s funny to read about yourself.
You’ll be a person you don’t recognize
Doing things that never happened.
Pa knows how to fictionalize.

If you want to, you can comment,
“That never happened at all,”
But everybody knows
It’s a post so Pa.

As a case in point, let’s look at
The post that Pa wrote about Billy.
Billy, the way Pa tells it,
Never got off the train in Philly.

I didn’t have to check with Billy
To know that never happened at all
’Cause everybody knows
It’s a post so Pa.

Pa says that this isn’t true.
He says it’s an exaggeration.
For a story to get any views,
It requires some simplification,

But with Pa it’s a whole way of being.
None of these things ever happened at all,
And everybody knows
It’s a post so Pa.
