Lyrics

My King, the People

My King, my King, oh listen to this
some thing in our land is truly amiss
People are shouting "We need no king"
Oh such, oh such a despicable sin.

We want to be free, say the people,
not be ruled by the church or the crown
not be ordered to die for some master's fun
we want to be judged by our own

My King, my King, oh listen to this
some thing in our land is truly amiss
People are shouting "We need no king"
Oh such, oh such a despicable sin.

Better than any highborn, we know
when there is a reason to fight
after all is it not the commoner's sense
that decides what is wrong and what is right

My King, my King, oh listen to this
some thing in our land is truly amiss
People are shouting "We need no king"
Oh such, oh such a despicable sin.

The people say that they want a change
and cannot wait anymore
And oh, my King, behold, my Lord,
they are right in front of the door!

He won't feel very entertained once they break down the door! But you've captured the style of a medieval bard very well.

Very poetic and almost melodic text! The king would have been terrified!

So delightful, harkens back to the fantasy novels I read as a kid. Well done!

Thee hath frightened thy king! What terror! Surely my subjects do so love me! But what poetry… thy king is pleased yet wary!

This is very well done. I can hear the rhythm of the words as if they were already a song without the music. The sentiment is timely for sure and you've captured it very well.
