Liner Notes
I can't record things into my phone (too full), but I can record straight into my songwriting app since that's stored in THEIR server. Only I can't look at the lyrics while I do it and I can't pause recording when I forget them. Here are the lyrics, here is the melody, feel free to imagine what the other verses would sound like sung. Ignore the long pause in the middle of the chorus.
I was looking at the #PaintCardChallenge in the forums, trying to figure out what color "Life Lesson" was, when the first line of this came to me. As I wrote, somehow it connected in my brain to this chorus which I had written most of a few years ago but never quite knew where to go with it.
#HardRock #finished (as in the "Finish It Challenge" forum thread https://write.fawm.org/forums/3117 - clearly this is not the final version of the demo, and it should receive an arrangement with instrumentation at some point - #collaborationswelcome)
Lyrics
[Verse 1]
Her eyes were the color of a life lesson
I fell into them by accident
I knew what was coming after one session
But when she beckoned me to come with her, I went
[Chorus]
She wore leather and lace
And I loved her all her days
But she died in the depths of the summer
With the sun on her face
I remember and I embrace
Amnesia and the things I learned from her
And her mistakes
[Verse]
The only name she gave to me was Amnesia
The only thing I gave her was trust
Her hair was the texture of a road pizza
I almost lost a finger the one time that we touched
[Chorus]
[Verse]
I thought she must be one of the great thinkers
Whatever she wanted, she had ways
She kept her true emotions between two fingers
She had a smile about the same length as her legs
[Bridge]
She wore leather and lace
And I loved her all her days
But it's been years since that one fateful summer
I don't take all my meals
Wearing stockings and spike heels
But that's all I inherited from her
Were her ideals
And her mistakes
[Chorus]
