Still on them politics

Lyrics

They gave me the castle, just like I wanted
We’ll take the mortar, we’ll drain the moat
We’ll fire the servants, I’ll take the throne

I remember, young and naive
Wanted to make the world a better place
But that’s when I realized it won’t ever work
And they don’t deserve it, if I do the hard work

That’s when I set myself a reasonable goal
You gotta start small when you want to take the whole world
And you gotta be sly don’t let them suspect a thing
You’d be surprised how many times I could let it slip

That’s when I saw that people believe
Anyone who can lull them in and do as they please
I saw the potential, but I felt defeat
When those aligned with my type of right, all fell to their knees

And so I plant the seeds of discord
You gotta take the top before you can take more
Hold the thread and watch them walk away
Well you know what they say

They told me to care less, thought they said “Be careless”
Now I’m left with their mess
But I know I’ll find success
Cause I’ve done it once before

A timely reminder that most villains think they're doing the right thing! What an excellent lyric you've written here 😊

"I saw the potential, but I felt defeat" is a fantastic line! Really intrigued by this whole thing. Very poignant.

Timely allegory with lots of historical and literary references to back it up.

I feel like so many of us who did this prompt saw our villain trying to change things for the better. Love the lyric and your characters tenacity.

Great exploration of a villain's motivation. I could see this working a a 20 minute prog rock song.
