The dynamic duo of Graham and Daniel write perfect country lyrics at the drop of a hat and I'm always honored when they give me the chance to find a melody for them that works for my old-school, throwback sort of style. Usually I try to do theirs as full productions, but I'm trying this FAWM to do at least some numbers where I lean a little less on my production tools, so thought I'd try one of theirs as just a 1+1 type thing so their lyrics can shine through.

Lyrics

I Remember Too Much
Graham/Daniel

On our first date
We lit up the night with sparks
We lost track of the time
While we were counting all the stars
I do recall everything you said
It's true, it's all, still inside my head

chorus:
I remember too much
That's my one regret
Of losing your love
And words that were unsaid
What is done is done
And I guess I was
Addicted to your touch
I can't forgive and forget
I remember too much

We had true love
The kind that everyone wants
We burned up all those nights
And denied what we felt because
We were foolish and we were so young
We confused it with having our fun

repeat chorus:

bridge:
They say there's no future livin' in the past
But tomorrow that is really all I have

repeat chorus:

This is the kind of lyric that goes straight to your heart, with a gorgeous melancholic-sweet performance to bring it alive. Just fantastic work all round.

Fantastic collab, and fantastic performance. These are the songs I want to hear on the front porch or around a campfire. Your voice carries such a gentle sincerity.

[Ignore until March] the chorus is so strong, but scanning the lyric, I think you could find a slant-rhyme for "i was" and "your touch," if you play with the phrasing a little, like a little pause at "I guess I was.... addicted to your touch"

Nice one! I like all the references to things burning and lighting up. Good analogy to lost love.

i love how the melody wanders with the thoughts, pondering but flowing from one to the next so easily. i love that low note on wants and sparks. Beautiful collaboration everyone!

See, you can pack the fullness of an album into a single 1+1! I don't know how you do it. This sounds great, and very Radio-Ready.. Oh, that last line's gonna get the girls! 😀 You guys make a great team.

Aw dude, I love your voice, and this song too.... I'm reading a bio of Gram Parsons and also Across the Great Divide, The Band And America by Barney Hoskins... your take on this song blows me away.... thank you so much.

Fantastic collab! Great lyrics, beautiful guitar and a lovely vocal. Awesome work all round!

Gorgeous guitar playing, and those vocals are outstanding and these well crafted lyrics are totally shinning through with just the vocal and guitar. I really like your melodic choices. Beautiful collab!

Your well earned voice and porchside serenade bring this bittersweet beauty to life. One heart tugging line after another. Just gorgeous. The outro..well, I'd say the lot of us have been there. I sure have. Thank you!

Country perfection all round...love the unplugged approach!

Another great hook/tag line, something you fellows do so well! I love the intimate guitar vocal recording.

I felt this lyric in the first notes of the guitar. What a perfect stripped-back arrangement that let's the message shine. Vocals are full of warmth. Nice collab, guys! Well done.

Wow, thank goodness for the random song feature here, I'm so glad I came across this. Such a soulful song and the lyrics are so relatable. Amazing work!

I was so happy to come across your song! I really enjoyed listening to this collaboration - a great old-timey country song with thoughtful lyrics and a catchy melody. I particularly enjoyed the first half of your chorus: "I remember too much/That's my one regret/Of losing your love/And words that were unsaid." I look forward to hearing more!

this is a great demo on a lovely song.

The sound of your guitar and voice are beautiful and soothing, no further production needed! Great tag line with forget / remember, and the title line is a perfect, relatable way of saying why you can't let go of an old relationship.

This is the perfect accompaniment to my morning coffee. Great lyrics, delivered so so well.

I'm always happy when you team up. This sounds perfect. The lyrics, the guitar, the cozy voice. When will you publish an album full of that? Good start

Great collab! Excellent melody and interesting chord choices.

Love the stripped-down production (which is still marvelously done).
[avatar]
This is just great. Love the lyrics and the setting.

Instant classic! Nothing really beats the raw power of just vocals and guitar. Well done!

i am not exaggerating when i say that when jeff walker sings mctown and vaughan, i cant help but think of elvis singing leiber and stoller. it's that kind of a partnership, in which everything fits together like a swiss watch. i eould say that i agree that jeff's stripped down production brings the lyrics to the fore, but when jeff sings, the lyrics are always shining bright in front of the music. no mount of production could take away from his inimitable interpretation of the lyric.

What a delightful collaborative effort. Your melody lines and the pace of delivery here are perfect for the lyrics. Really enjoyed it, Jeff.

…great start in to FAWM 2025! - i cannot compare ‚production quality‘ to previous songs, but this sounds nice and pretty well balanced - i like it…

These lyrics, oh man. I feel them deeply. What a great performance too, excellent collab! Thanks for sharing this with the world.

This is nothing like the music I normally listen to, but I LOVED this. Goes to show how great it is. The lyrics are wonderful and your voice is lovely, and the guitar is the perfect amount of complicated and simple. Great stuff!
