I Feel You (Always)

Liner Notes

#indie or something #biab
Sat down to try and make up something that was outside my usual box and maybe a little on the ambient end of the musical rainbow I suppose. Messed around with various chord progressions and finally landed on something but with no clear idea of a top line melody--I just knew I wanted it to sort of burble mellow and understated under a stack of lush instrumental sounds with lots of low end. Then, lyrics. Where these came from is sort of a mystery, except I've got a lot of LeCarre novels on my bookshelf and maybe one of them leaked out into the music room.

Lyrics

I Feel You (Always)
Music & Lyrics - Jeff Walker and Band In a Box

Taste the diamond chill of moonlight
Cool as Thelonius’ Round Midnight
Played softly on a phantom saxophone
But then fading

Silver skates and balalaikas
We would let the music take us
Around the lake with snow piled up against the trees
Like it’s waiting

I feel you
The soft flutter of wings
Always
I hear you
When the iron bells ring
Always

I’m not asleep but dreaming still
Lubyanka prison broke my will
But I feed my soul on memories of you
My angel warrior

I’ve got so little left to live for
No fire to fight some little cold war
They think they got it all but I never gave them you
My dusha moya

I feel you
The soft flutter of wings
Always
I hear you
When the iron bells ring
Always

You have stretched out with this one and it does cross up different elements in a cool way. Dreamy, thoughtful , PTSD emotions, and a few questions left, as I hear it. I especially liked the simplitcty of the outro repeating lines. Very effective mood.

leaking le carre - thats a good title ! the steel is a give away to country roots but it is a step away! i see the eastern front influence, nice gentle song - very nice
