Liner Notes

Scorsese's No Direction Home: Bob Dylan was just aired again on PBS (with pledge breaks) and I was reminded of his early talkin' blues style of music. So I channeled dear Mr. Zimmerman and wrote a social comment on our times.

Lyrics

Well, I've been down this road and back
I've seen the highs and felt the lack
With every step I learned a thing or two
So let's hold hands and sing this song
Let love take us where we belong
The only way I think we make it through

We live in troubled times it's clear
Can't let it jerk your every tear
Stand up now and fight for what is right
Peace and kindness reign supreme
We're all part of that same dream
And don't you ever give up the fight

So raise your voice, let it be strong
Let's do it now, and it won't be long

Through the storms and through the rain
We find the strength to rise again
With every stumble, we learn to stand up tall
Let's build a bridge where walls divide
And let our love be our guide
Together, we can answer every call

The world is changing, fast and wide
But we'll keep hope alive inside
No matter what, we'll keep our spirits high
With open hearts, we'll pave the way
For brighter nights and better days
And with our love, we'll reach up to the sky

So raise your voice, let it be strong
Let's do it now, and it won't be long

"And don't you ever give up the fight" - is just one of several great lines. Your lyrics are great. I also agree that the guitar and harmonica add a nice touch to the lyrics/vocals.

I always think I want to do a talking blues song. Listening to yours I realize how much the accomplished guitar and the harmonica add. I like these sweet optimistic words that feel like they could apply a hundred years ago or a hundred years from now. Hope blooms eternal.
