Loneliness In Blue

Phoebe is going on a trip in another week and I've already written an I'm missing you song. Might be a rough week ahead. This one doesn't seem very original in the melody so I'll revisit it and see if I can tweak it if needed.

Lyrics

I've been tired before
I'll be tired again
Can't sleep when I'm lonely
When I'm missing my best friend

She's gone for the week
I even helped her pack
Seems like forever
Can't wait till she gets back

And it's not enough to love her
It's not enough to say, "I do!"
It always feels wrong
Whenever she's gone
It's loneliness in blue

I've been reading all night long
Trying to change my mood
Re-reading every page
I keep getting confused

My concentration's left me
With her always on my mind
Counting down the days
Wasting all my time

And it's not enough to love her
It's not enough to say, "I do!"
It always feels wrong
Whenever she's gone
It's loneliness in blue

And when I finally get to sleep
I'll stare into her blue eyes
Counting down the hours till she arrives

And it's not enough to love her
It's not enough to say, "I do!"
It always feels wrong
Whenever she's gone
It's loneliness in blue

It always feels wrong
Whenever she's gone
It's loneliness in blue

Strong chorus, love the walk down and the loneliness in blue is a great hook. Also really liked the bridge and the walk up that happens there. Like the concept in the chorus of not enough to love someone, not enough to say i do, great line.

Nice sweet ballad of longing! It’s melancholy without being too much. Yeah missing a loved one is not good! and well captured here!

I love this sweet ballad. The guitar flourishes capture my attention.

The melody feels very 'classic', but not sure I can hear anything specifically lifted. I think it might just be a great tune 😄 ! It kind of put me in mind of early/mid period Beatles (Norwegian Wood, You've got to hide your love away, This Boy - that type of thing), although that's probably because I'm a Beatles fan as much as anything else. Great title, and very relatable lyrics - a winner for me!
