Something True

Liner Notes

That's the first time that I try something with mandolin. It's pretty basic.

Lyrics

Something True
2024

(Verse 1)
G
Some say life is hard
C
and trouble was the only way it goes
G
We might die on a summer day
C
the birds are singing songs but they won't know

(Chorus)
D
Honey, would you mind
C
to keep on smiling like you do
D
when I'm leaving you behind
G
I'd been into something true

(Verse 2)
Some say there's a reason why
But it's water running down the waterfall
Somewhat later when the sun goes down
The last rays paint the sky in blazing gold

(Chorus)
Honey, would you mind
to keep on smiling like you do
when I'm leaving you behind
I'd been into something true

(Bridge)
C
I guess I'd seen it all
G
More than I'll ever know
D
But I would do it all again
C
When it's time to let it go

(Repeat Chorus)

@newukenewyork thanks for your nice comment. I got myself a very cheap one but I find mandolin particularly hard to play, that is one of the reasons why I had to keep this song so simple.
I assume you could do his with Ukulele instead?

Very nice strumming with that mandolin. You have a very nice song here, and the delivery is great. Lots of emotion and lots of interest in the lyric. Great job.

Whenever I hear a mandolin I want one (which is dangerous!) and I like how it sounds here. My favorite lyrics are in the first verse and the bridge. I think in general your lyrical sensibility is strong, and I'm digging the whole song. This is SUCH a good couplet:
We might die on a summer day
the birds are singing songs but they won't know
Great vocals, too!
