Keep holding on

Liner Notes

Tagged NSFW because of some profanity... I need some help with this as we're rather "liberal" about the f-word here in Europe, but I marked this as 18+ in youtube: do you think this is necessary?

Lyrics

There's something inside of me
Something that just ain't right
I need to let it out
But I don't wanna fight
And now I'm falling down
The room is spinning round and round
And I can hear my heart beating loud

I never thought this day would come
Where I feel like I am fucked up in the head

Yeah, everything's gonna be alright
So just keep holding on girl
I'll be there when you wake up
Just keep holding on
You're going through some shit
Some people say it got them rockin' at the bottom
Keep holdin', girl that's where you belong

Well life goes by so fast
Every time that I pass
It's hard to know what's next
When will I get better?

I never thought this day would come
Where I feel like I am fucked up in the head

Yeah, everything's gonna be alright
So just keep holding on girl
I'll be there when you wake up
Just keep holding on
You're going through some shit
Some people say it got them rockin' at the bottom
Keep holdin', girl that's where you belong

Yeah, everything's gonna be alright
So just keep holding on girl
I'll be there when you wake up
Just keep holding on
You're going through some shit
Some people say it got them rockin' at the bottom
Keep holdin', girl that's where you belong

Catchy song, and I like the chord progression. Also nice guitar solo!
While I'm ok with the language, I know some rather particular parents who would be grateful that their kids couldn't access it.🤷‍♀️ So maybe? Or maybe not. It seems like this stuff is more generally accepted than it was 20 years ago.

my 8 year old doesnt use profanity but is familiar with it, and laughs whenever she hears somebody say these words. she enjoys the outrage of it. but as you say, such language is so commonplace in some areas that it sounds normal, like in this song, those words dont draw attention to themselves, they are part of the common vernacular and as such have no shock value so i dont see why the song should be restricted, especially to those under 18 because i think it is teenagers who are most likely to identify with the feelings in the song and who most can benefit from the message to keep holding on.

This is a solid rock tune that feels like what I heard in the early FM days. I really enjoyed the listen!
