This is a much-delayed post to the "The Stone In My Hand" skirmish. I'm on another work trip, with nothing but my iPad and my flute. Just went with the onscreen keyboard this time, and my lav mic. Getting #garageband to play nice took a lot of work.

Lyrics

Losing My Grip
Jemma Kline

Put the glasses in the cupboard,
Trace each shape as they go in.
Feel my fingers slowly weaken,
See my lifeline growing thin.

I’m holding on,
Holding on with both my hands,
Stony grip replaced by sand,
I’m holding on.

Black and white are both familiar,
Forming notes of songs I play.
Will I lose the strength to move them,
As the rhythm slowly fades?

I’m holding on,
Holding on with both my hands,
Stony grip replaced by sand,
I’m holding on.

Shards upon the tiled floor,
Crimson stains on Waterford.
Missing measures, broken chords,
Count the rhythm, come up short.

I’m holding on,
Holding on with both my hands,
Stony grip replaced by sand,
I’m holding on.

I'm impressed -- Garage Band drives me wild and takes so long I almost never get anything put together. This is a very nice demo. I like the drawn out "holding on" and "hands" and "sand" -- there's a nice build and sustain to those moments.

So coincidental - I've been working on a losing-your-grip song, too.
So this one really speaks to me. First of all, you sound awesome and personal and vulnerable. Second, I love a piano/vocal ballad. Such vivid lyrics, too. Love it!

Wow, this has such an emotional, immersive feel! Between the straigh-ahead piano chords, the wistful lyrics, and the completely in-the-moment vocal performance, this is utterly compelling!
