Written for the Skirmish X-Marks the Spot - You just have to write a pirate story from that prompt, surely 😛

PS Ogun is one of the principal gods in Yoruba mythology and many of the pirates were either runaway slaves or freed from slaver ships before they reached the Americas by pirate ships in search of crew.

Lyrics

"X-Marks the spot!" Whitebeard said
A moment before he was shot in the head
This, I'm afraid, was no mishap
For his mate, Greybeard, wanted that map

"We sail for Stagg Island!" Greybeard said
But before he stepped ashore, Blackbeard shot him dead
Ambition and greed drove Blackbeard's act
Now he knew the island and the place on the map

Two men started digging under the palm tree
And soon reached the treasure quite easily
Blackbeard was ecstatic when they got back to the boat
But his companion Redbeard swiftly slit his throat

Back on the ship Redbeard ordered the men to sail
But ten leagues from Port Royal they ran into a gale
In the struggle with the storm men prayed to the divine
But so many gallant lads were washed into the brine

"That treasure must be cursed!" muttered half the crew
And they fell on their new captain, who overboard they threw
"Tis pity!" cried the cabin boy and no-one disagreed
As they tossed the treasure chest into the roaring sea

The gale did abate and they safely reached the shore
Where half of the crew swore they'd go to sea no more
They gave thanks to Ogun and new trades they all found
And all divers for that treasure have ever since been drowned
