#love songs usually seem to tell about the time at the start of a relationship - or at the end. Here's one right in the middle, when things can be good, and bad. Yesterday was Tu B'Av, the #jewish 'Valentine's Day.' I missed it. And we had a fight. But we're still in love.

Thank you, #dailysongprompt, for the "like a stone" prompt that got me looking into Jewish holidays and realizing I'd missed one of my favorites.

Lyrics

Yesterday
Jemma Kline

Seven years,
Living close.
Seven years,
Comparing notes.
Yesterday.
Tu B’Av,
Had the sort of fight they always warn you of.

I still love you,
Have no doubt.
There’s no trouble that we two can’t figure out.
And together,
Joy or sorrow,
We will walk on hand-in-hand into tomorrow.

Seven years,
Not so long.
Seven years,
Many songs.
Yesterday,
Forgot them all
When we faced each other, back against the wall.

I still love you,
Have no doubt.
There’s no trouble that we two can’t figure out.
And together,
Joy or sorrow,
We will walk on hand-in-hand into tomorrow.

Flute solo

I still love you,
Have no doubt.
There’s no trouble that we two can’t figure out.
And together,
Joy or sorrow,
We will walk on hand-in-hand into tomorrow.

A song for adults, this feels so *real.* Lovely and soul-stirring throughout, and the musicality of the second "Seven years" verse in particular completely hooked me (as did the delicate flute solo).

I really like this one. Songs about falling in love are so plentiful, but the real story is a couple staying together, experiencing life, and working out problems (or not). There should be more songs about it.
