“Visible” - #fawm 50/90 2024 song 41

Here’s another lyrics-only draft from last summer. I don’t really recall what the prompt was — maybe about landing on a planet? Leave it to me to make it a relationship song (though it doesn’t have to be romantic). Or did I just want to rhyme something with dirigible?

11 lyric drafts left to finish from 2023…

Lyrics

I landed on your planet
Took my helmet off to stay
The atmosphere is breathable
This not quite shadow, not quite shade

You’re not a ghost, you’re visible
Come ride in my dirigible
What’s lingering is residual
Impassioned individuals

You’re visible, you’re visible

I’ll live among your people
The stars above may fade
Let the whispers overspill
With reasons to be brave

You’re not a ghost, you’re visible
Come ride in my dirigible
What’s lingering is residual
Impassioned individuals

You’re visible, you’re visible

I’ve got a notion
To make a commotion
You’re visible, a miracle
At channeling the spiritual

You’re visible, you’re visible

You’re not a ghost, you’re visible
Come ride in my dirigible
What’s lingering is residual
Impassioned individuals

The rhymes in this song are both unusual (e.g., dirigible and residual) and they work in terms of moving your story forward in a sensible way, and not just rhyming for rhyming's sake. It's a really interesting tale full of unexpected turns. Nice job.

I really like the melody you put on this one. To me it sounds very poppy and current.

Maybe the lyrics were written to celebrate the day of bi visibility?

I love all the rhymes with dirigible! Also love that it is a story of acceptance and connection. I enjoyed the video - well done :)

I really love the sweetness and soft energy you went with on the tune for this. I didn’t see the original, so this is the first time I got to see the lyrics. I’d love the imagery. The use of this metaphor in a relationship is a fantastic idea. The tune is perfect for a flight in a dirigible.
