This was another #larp #filk that came out of the events of the last weekend, where I witnessed the rise and fall of the mighty Phoenix.

I will hold in my heart the sight of all those brave heroes pausing in the midst of their battle to dance and sing to the great creature of flame soaring high overhead, and I will never forget the feeling I had, watching its death at the hands of the terrible undead of the moors.

We watched the shining in the sky,
The light of burning stars.
And there were tears in every eye,
To see that flame afar.

The flight of the Phoenix,
A comet in the night.
The flight of the Phoenix,
A strange and stirring sight.
Then as the depths of winter bring the dimming of the light,
We saw the fall of the Phoenix.

We followed singing words of joy,
And danced to show our praise,
But shades of sins from long ago
Were called to quench her blaze.

We saw the fall of the Phoenix.

Like a falcon seeking prey,
Striking down to seize and slay,
The Phoenix hunted for the fiends,
But gath’ring round her in a ring,
They pierced her body with their stings
And slew the mighty Phoenix.
