Liner Notes

I was really taken with Roddy's "Ukulele Duo" and just started to sing some lyrics to it that I then went on to develop.

My performance is very much influenced by the "Crooner" period. I could easily imagine Al Bowly singing this perfectly.

The key was a little too high for me at points, but when I tried lowering it, the ukes lost their "ukuleleity" - so I stuck to the original key.

Lyrics

It's late, but that's hardly surprising
There's light out there on the horizon
The party swung till half past four
When our host politely showed us the door

Oh these heady summer days
We're having the time of our lives
Worries and cares we'll leave till September
These are the times that we'll care to remember
These heavenly sunny summer days

So let's see if some bar is still serving
A coffee or a tea we're surely deserving
And then so much more

We won't always know such freedom
But our troubles let's not feed them
Leave behind our worldly concerns
Till some other day

What a cool and inspired approach to a collab! Wonderful playing and singing - like you're both in the same parlor, tavern, or coffeehouse.

A very good performance with very good lyrics. You added vocals and lyrics to the music that were so authentic and innovative. This was very creative, very musical and so enjoyable to listen to.

I like the vocal. Maybe it's a stretch for you, but those high do sound good. Very good addition to the fine ukuleleing.
