picking hollyhock flowers in the bright sunshine
down in the garden where they grow in straight lines
creating so many pretty maids all in a row
to decorate her windowsill, a jolly tableau
dreaming of the day when she'll walk down the aisle
some frills and a fancy dress will be the perfect style.
so many bridesmaids, all her best friends
hollyhock maids, all the colourful gems.

some years later, a bouquet of milkweed pods
add some paint and strings, and a few little odds and sods
soon a flock of bluebirds attached to her wall
