Lyrics

I should have told her I love her
I should have dropped this veneer
If I had told her the way that I feel
Maybe she’d still be here

I should have tried to be gentle
Though gentle is not my way
I had more chances than any romances
And tossed each one away

So here I sit feeling lonely
Loneliness fits like a glove
Maybe she’ll call and maybe she’ll come back
Though what are the chances I’d win back her love

Instrumental Verse

I should have told her I love her
Instead of hiding my heart
If I had told her then I could still hold her
And nothing could keep us apart

sweetly morose song of regret is backed by a classic ballad track. everything fits together so well, and the vocals are the cherry on top.

Really lovely tunedge here. Those chords are delicious. Not much else like this on FAWM--thanks for the terrific change of pace.

This is such a wonderful slow jazzy melancholic feeling song that delivers the ‘should have’ lyrics so perfectly. The melody and emotion in the vocals are spectacular! Great instrumentation with the woodwinds as part of the combo! Lovely bittersweet longing!

You have such versatility in your music and vocals. It is a pleasure to hear your songs. Your lyrics are so polished, yet sound so natural. And your delivery is always spot on. What a combination of talents. Yes, I hear a Sinatra influence here.

Love your chord progressions and the way your vocals wrap around them. Your retro style is so fresh!

There's so much to like here. I love the melody, the chord structure, the instrumentation and, of course, the vocal. Sinatra, move over!
