VOYAGE 8: MOOREA TOPS

We didn't actually climb the Moʻorea tops, but did get up to the Belvedere Lookout and admired both the volcanic spires and Cook Bay way down below. Moorea is the island of Bali H'ai in the 1957 film of South Pacific, though they simply took lots of stills and matted them into the Hanalei Bay (Kauai) filmed film.

This is a #oneshot #live #piano #improvisation. I was actually trying some of Linda Audio's #stargazer shimmers preparatory to using a whistle (more of that later) so (oh woe) didn't have the MIDI recorder running. The shimmer didn't work well and I initially removed it from the studio recording, but you'd be stuck then with my wholly unmasked heavy breathing. With an acoustic piano (or live pipe organ), nobody notices, but when there's a sensitive condenser 10 inches away, well... so there's a bit of shimmer to hide the hay fever...almost...

You really have a gift for the piano (and for composing). This is a beautiful piece, calming, serene, and really does help one imagine they are in another time and place. Keep them coming! Also, I didn't mind the shimmer at all. It seemed to fit in quite nicely to the overall mix. Excellent stuff.
