Liner Notes

#psychedelia

I had just read an article about drug guru Timothy Leary, who was arrested more than once. No animals were harmed in the making of this song!

Lyrics

Timothy Leary grew tired of the city
so he moved to the country
made his home in a mighty oak tree
and invited his neighbors - mostly
rabbits and squirrels -
round for psilocybin tea
and hash brownies
the rabbits barked, the squirrels meowed
and they danced under day-glo skies
and got very high

An uptight owl watched disapprovingly
and called the police
so the cops planted a mole
(a real one) and then arrested the whole
group and Timothy had to leave
his mighty oak tree for cell block C

You certainly captured the psychedelic feel perfectly. I really like the animalistic metaphors in your lyrics. Yeah, this is just a great song. Loved it TTG!

Favorite couplet is this: so the cops planted a mole
(a real one) and then arrested the whole

but the whole lyric is fun, the sound stylish and interesting, and your vocal delivery has a drug-infused "Bowie" edge to it that feels just right.

Really fun listen.

some of these images remind me of old school disney cartoons. but the second verse pulls us out of thar wonderland into the harsh reality of cops and jails. love that guitar and the spooky orchestral sounds behind it,

Takes me back to the 80s selling computer software at computer shows in San Francisco with my ex and one that was popular was "Timothy Leary's Mind Mirror." Clever lyrics and vocal delivery, of course!
