FUNintendo

Liner Notes

Retro gaming and emulation is a big part of my life, Nintendo has been on a rampage lately with legal action. Here's a fun throwback punky track, kind of chaotic, but fun to mess around and take a breather from the heavy material.

My friend Michael Benny wrote the words, with additional electric guitar, bass and backing vocals by my friend Tim (TeamPandory)

Lyrics

(Verse 1)
In the courtroom of fate, Nintendo’s at the gate,
Emulation’s on trial, it’s a legal debate.
From Mario to Zelda, old games we cherish,
But copyright claims, oh, they never perish.

(Chorus)
Battling Nintendo in court,
Emulation’s what we support.
Old memories we want to relive,
But legal battles we must forgive.

(Verse 2)
Pixels and sprites, memories so bright,
But DMCA notices give us a fright.
From NES to SNES, those classics so fine,
Fair use or piracy? It’s a fine line.

(Chorus)
Battling Nintendo in court,
Emulation’s what we support.
Preserving history, that’s our fight,
But the law’s on Nintendo’s side tonight.

(Bridge)
From Dolphin to RetroArch, our tools in hand,
To play those old games, across the land.
But lawyers in suits, they stand tall and bold,
Protecting IPs, or so we’re told.

(Chorus)
Battling Nintendo in court,
Emulation’s what we support.
Let’s find a compromise, a way to play,
Where nostalgia and legality sway.

(Outro)
In the end, it’s about respect and rights,
Balancing old memories with legal fights.
Nintendo, we love your games, it’s true,
But finding common ground, that’s overdue.

A specific lyrical idea that is just niche enough! Fun/semi serious lyrics with a playful melodic and rhythmic treatment.
