Fish Out of Water

Challenge: IdiomLiner Notes
Here's "Fish out of Water" for the Idiom challenge...AKA as the most copyrighted song ever! This song is nearly entirely built upon samples of pre-existing songs. I've always wanted to play around with stuff like this even though I can't properly release it. It's a simple G# C# D# C# chord progression, with the organ of "Louie Louie" by The Kingsmen being at the root of it (I pitched the sample down a half-step). Lyrically speaking, it's really simple and just kind of thrown together. I'd say it's about a guy who wants to fit in somewhere so he's just continuously trying to prove himself. It fit the fish out of water theme quite well.
Tracks Sampled:
The Kingmsen - Louie Louie (Organ)

Lyrics
I was swimming around in my aquarium
Till' the rescue team had found us
Branch out into two different persons
And sink down deep into the bottom of the ocean
Swim around to find
The secret history
Of my immortal mind
Of my immortal mind
Of my immortal mind
Of my immortal mind
And this is what it read
And when you came in through the doorway
I knew that you were me, I knew immediately
I’m a fish out of water
You’re a fish out of water
Paralyzed with the fear of compromise
Do you surmise it’s wise?
To have this ancient history emerging from your mind?
We’re thrown as the laughing stock
Enter scene of dumpster diving
Digging around to find some holy spectacle that still lies
It still lies
And this is what we found
When you came in through the doorway
I knew that I was you, I knew that it was true
I’m a fish out of water
You’re a fish out of water
And when you came in through the doorway
I knew that you were me, I knew immediately
I’m a fish out of water
You’re a fish out of water
