Liner Notes

This unfortunately is a #journalwithatune song. I'm learning a lot about police departments currently. Don't leave your purse in a car. Never carry your checkbook unless you must. I did this in a minor key with my tenor ukulele #fuc. I pray this public service announcement (PSA) reaches whoever needs to hear it.

Lyrics

Don’t leave your purse in the car
Even if you hide it under the front seat
The thief may be watching from afar
Out of sight still can end in defeat

My identity is not my own
I’m experiencing fear wherever I roam
The checkbook is used but not by me
Please lock those crooks up and set me free

The police reports are up to six
As the thieves go from town to town
I long for a quicker legal fix
Uncertainty is causing a frown

Chorus

I hope you learn from my lesson
At a park in the morning for grandchildren to play
Keep valuables in your possession
Heed my advice in this purse PSA

Chorus

I love the idea of a song as a PSA - could imagine this on public access tv - fun little bit of humor and you sing it well.

So well written, and so well sung. Sorry about the terrible circumstances that created this song, but I'm thankful that you can channel your inner muse when things like this happen. Love you!!!

So terrible, and I hope it all gets resolved. It's a nice song though!

Good job! Years ago I left an empty purse in a rental Mini van and somebody broke in to steal it.

Another time I left my purse in a Starbucks, ran back to see if it was still there and it was! Whew! I escaped that one.

I'm glad you could write about this tragic event! Great advice and I hope a little helpful to you. 🩷

I'm so sorry this happened to you Darci. The minor key really matches the serious tone of this PSA. Your ukulele and voice sound great in the recording.
