Liner Notes

I had a dream a few nights ago that I had met Eleanor Rigby's sister in a bar. She was very very sad, and she gave me most of these words. What do you do with that as a songwriter, I ask you?

The music for this was put together with Apple Loops, Midi Files, and my midi guitar controller. I was sort of badly channeling Michael Franks' 70's/80's quiet storm movement a little.

Lyrics

Lonely Margaret sits alone
Dreams of places far from home
Dusty windows faded light
Hopes and memories out of sight

Shadows fall on empty streets
No one there to share her sheets
Time goes by in silent rooms
Lonely heart in evening's gloom

Margaret oh where did they go
Life once bright now moving slow
Lonely soul with heavy heart
From this world she's set apart

Days and nights they blend as one
Still she waits for setting sun
Little moments once so near

Now just echoes she can't hear

In a town where dreams decay
Margaret lives another day
Holding on though skies are grey
Hoping love might find its way

Margaret oh where did they go
Life once bright now moving slow
Lonely soul with heavy heart
From this world she's set apart

I really like the melody and the little embellishments on the keyboard. You’ve set Margaret’s dream words to the perfect sound bed.

A song for Eleanor's sister was long overdue and now it's there and no longer just a dream...a very original notion and a very moving piece...

love the chill lounge vibe to this - lyrically it's like a Hopper painting!

Really liked the soothing melody/vocals. I like the female voice but that's a good question about why is she singing about Margaret? Although, I also have a song with a female/male singing about lost love and so I'm hoping it's interpreted as they're both mourning the lost love. So maybe there's a story here, too. Anyway, really nicely done!

Well, when the universe gives it to you, you have to take it. Sad song, melancholy but still moving along. (I don't have an issue with the female backing, as the key lines are the male voice only. Very smooth.

Really liked the soothing/smooth tempo and beat in this--it set the mood of the lyric so well in song and had a fresh yesteryear feel. Dreamy-like atmosphere, the play and vocals were telling--like sound and drift away from a cross between Sinatra's "The Girl from Ipanema" and McCartney's "Silly Love Songs"--with an entertaining result.

I'm not sure of the b.g. (female) vocals singing with you. I thought that took away from the atmosphere/meaning of the song in the fact that I felt the song was being sung about (and to some extent to) Margaret. The fact that (what I heard was a female singer accompaniment) took away (for me) from the sole male storyteller singing out for/about Margaret. Mixed signal I received hearing "Margaret" singing along with the storyteller, and it turned me off a bit to the overall concept/meaning I felt I needed to get from this lyric in song. Still, enjoyed the read and listen. Keep up the good work!

oooooh ya. slick. sexy-like. smoky. smooth. sultry. as if plucked from a dream...hey wait....thoroughly enjoyed start to finish. you should put NSFW on this...people may get freaky if you play this too loud in public and then that will bring a bunch of mess your way that you don't deserve...not your fault it's such a panty/boxers dropper....the lyrics are heavy and relatable, that kind of ennui that rears it's head every so often in the strangest of times and ways. bravo. loved it.
