It's Not Too Late

Liner Notes
@beto says: I did not have in my bingo card for this FAWM playing live a song that changes from 13/8 (3+3+3+4) to 8/8 (3+3+2). Well, here it is.
@motorcitymusicman says:
I have a mini FAWM tradition that I write one song every year based on Greek/Roman mythology. This year the song was about Odysseus, from the perspective of late in his life, as reflected in the poem "Ulysses" by Alfred, Lord Tennyson. (Fun fact: this is the poem from which Bruce Springsteen got the title "Hungry Heart.") I tried to make the lyrics not so much reflect the details of his life but more generally the yearning he was feeling. Great to collab with Beto!

Lyrics
[Verse One]
I live my life from day to day
And every day’s the same
The lack of progress is disgusting
There’s nothing left for me to say
Is this what I became?
There’s nothing worse than feeling that you’re rusting
[Pre-chorus]
I cannot rest from travel
I’ll drink life to the lees
Come and climb aboard with me
We’ll sail the open seas because
[Chorus]
It’s not too late to seek another world
The bruises from our lives can all be healed
We’ll sail beyond the sunset
And all will be revealed
It’s not too late to undertake adventure
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield
[Verse Two]
How dull it is to live a pause
It’s not the life for me
I’m always driven by a hungry heart
The world is nothing like it was
I think I need to flee
To run away and make another start
[repeat pre-chorus]
[repeat chorus]
[instrumental bridge]
[repeat chorus]
