Rollin’ Through
Liner Notes
Lyrics
A very different offering than my first dozen songs this year. I’m working on two different albums… this is a new song, just written last week. Got the recording finished last weekend. Country / Americana.
Rollin’ Through
Frost on the windshield, heater’s kicking slow
Toes still frozen from ten below
The road’s got cracks, but it’s holding fine
Summerset signs in the rearview line
Left before sunrise, didn’t check the mail
Didn’t see the words that could’ve turned me back
Pulled into the lot, just a ghost town there
No one waiting, just a frozen track
I keep rolling through, keep moving on
But the weight of the world rides shotgun
Hope says forward, fear says wait
Every mile writes a line I can’t erase
Radio’s humming static and blues
News breaks in—same old feuds
Power shifting, money talks
A bitter wind blows through my thoughts
They shut it down, pulled the rug
Another plan just ran out of luck
Got miles to go, but I don’t know
If I’m chasing light or dodging the dark below
I keep rolling through, keep moving on
But the weight of the world rides shotgun
Hope says forward, fear says wait
Every mile writes a line I can’t erase
Maybe stillness ain’t the enemy
Maybe the road don’t have to lead
Maybe sitting in the quiet, in the freeze
Is where I find the part of me I need
I keep rolling through, keep moving on
But the weight of the world rides shotgun
Hope says forward, fear says wait
But I’m done leaving my fate to fate
