Challenge: PERSONAL SOUNDTRACK

Liner Notes

#4track #indiefolk #lofi

Not backtracKing, backtracing. Like, tracing back. I guess it's not really a word but it is to me!!!

I recorded this one at like, two in the morning last night (thus the semi-timid lead vocal and weird arrangement) - the only reason I didn't put it out then is because I was sleepy. Lyrically it's another one about brain stuff, but I think it's specific enough to my brain to count for the Personal Soundtrack thingamajig... that's what I was going for, at least. The backing vocal in the second-verse-same-as-the-first is reading out Harvard sentences in my lower register.

Lyrics

Have you seen all the words in the trees?
Your legs would hurt hard jumping up to the leaves

Someone else wore down my childhood face
Trying not to slam down on erase
Backtracing my former steps
Trying to find all the clues that he left

Burn peat after the logs give out.
She sewed the torn coat quite neatly.
A pencil with black lead writes best.
Slash the gold cloth into fine ribbons.
