Liner Notes

Another collab between @racheleve and @n1742 !

Rachel says: It took me a minute to figure out what I wanted to write about to honor this slightly spooky/suspenseful sounding track Nigel sent me. Then I remembered I've written a couple songs about "infamous women in history" and have the idea of eventually recording an EP or album with this theme, so figured: why not write about a famous female serial killer? Went with "Nannie Doss," an alleged "romantic," who poisoned several husbands and family members between 1927-1954. I absolutely love the bass line and guitar solo Nigel added and won't say I didn't have a couple murder fantasies regarding certain men with way too much power as I listened to the chorus...! Thank you @n1742 for another great collab!!

Nigel says:
As always when collaborating with someone like Rachel, my original piano chords and Yurt Rock drum part became something totally new and vivid with her fabulous vocal and lyrical ideas. We adapted the structure a bit, I added the bass line which was great fun to do because of the harmonic structure and then I put a guitar solo in which I hope does fit with the mood. We repeated the whole tone (C# against G) intro before the guitar solo and at the end and I think the strange sounds of whole tone melodies give it a haunting feel. The tritone interval was banned in medieval times because it was associated with evil. Thanks again Rachel. Even more fun than last year I think.

Lyrics

Go down smooth
Lyrics and Vocals: Rachel Eve
Music and Production: Nigel Pattinson

Dreamed of a perfect love
Far away from him
Who cursed her with his sin
Immersed herself in lonely hearts
Tried to get a brand new start
But she could never win

Heard you like your whiskey neat
I just made you a little treat
And I promise it will
Go down smooth

Another hearts club match
But he could not lift the latch
Of her cold and shriveled heart
Still tried to find the key
To love’s great mysteries
But all she’s left with is his life insurance policy

Heard you like your whiskey neat
I just made you a little treat
And I promise it will
Go down smooth
Drink up now it’s almost time
For your final wild ride
And I promise you will go down smooth

Chords:
Intro: The notes C# and G in 3 octaves (tritone) suggesting C# whole tones scale on the bass part.
