Lyrics

Icicles

[Verse 1]
Icicles outside my window
Glimmering in the cold sunshine
mounds of snow like pillows
awaiting their spring deadline

[Prechorus]
Dripping slowly in whispered time
Winter's grasp begins to shine.

[Verse 2]
Crystal daggers hanging tight
Frozen tears in morning light
Dripping slowly in their space
Melting into spring's embrace.

[Chorus]
The sun will rise, the chill will fade
Winter winds will slip away
Warmer days are on their way
Brighter skies and flower cascades

[Verse 3]
Now the winds hum soft, a hush so low
Through barren branches and hills of snow
A fleeting world in a frozen scene
Holding fast to winter's dream

I really love this! Your words almost made me feel sorry for the snow and ice currently surrounding me (as it awaits its "spring deadline"!) Your beautiful vocals and soft picking deliver a somewhat minimalist auditory experience that delights me! Excellent work!

Such lovely tone again between your mandolin and the voice. You're going to inspire me to fix mine up and relearn it. I love the meditative and spare, spacious playing. This ones a breath of sweet, clean air.

The winter images are absolutely gorgeous - and the insight in the sentiment is lovely and hopeful. Your vocals are absolutely gorgeous! Love that third verse.

Very beautiful Linda, you really captured the images, and great job on your finger picking.
Bravo

A lovely Linda song! I am the weatherman this year in many songs, so icicles is a much listen for me. Could almost feel the cold! Thx I needed that!

I really like the finger picked mandolin (am I right on that one?) it sets up quite a cautiously hopeful feel. “Crystal daggers hanging tight” is a cool line.
