The Only Thing that Holds Me

Skirmish: Tense moment (@atornberg)Liner Notes
I wrote this skirmish song during the right time frame, which started midnight here, but I'm coming down with a chest infection and had to sleep, hence the late posting.
As you'll hear, I've gone full country on this one, that's my background and heritage so it comes naturally to me, plus I get to use my original Oklahoma accent.

Lyrics
You want me to stay and so I stay
You ask me to wait and so I wait
And as I see you heading down the road
I wonder if love's the same as fate
chorus:
Cuz the only thing that holds me here is love
I'm a big boy without a thing to prove
But since you left I just can't seem to move
The only thing that holds me here is love
I could just turn and walk away
I am not tied to this place
But all I do is stare at where you were
And think about the smile on your face
chorus
bridge:
You could treat me better
You could throw me a bone
You never send me a letter
Or pick up the phone
But when you return all is forgiven
First I feel relief, then joy
When you open the door and pat my head
And say "Who's been a good boy?"
chorus

The rhythms of the lyrics came out perfectly. It's cool to hear the improvisational quality of some of the changes from the written. It's amazing what emerges when putting music to the words.
I really like the change up of the bridge. I kinda wish the chorus diverged a bit more in terms of harmony/harmonic rhythm, but that just may be a me thing. I think it really works.
