Veil

Liner Notes

I wanted to try writing a song starting with the bassline, and I aimed at doing something moody and sparse. Not super happy with many elements of this, and it felt like I spent most of my time just grinding out the recording rather than rewriting the actual song to make it better. FAWM pressure is getting to me, I think.

Lyrics

It came to me
Nothing is forever
Nothing is saved
From this life

A fog dissolved
And everything was clear
All I could have was
This time

If I could I would
Rip the veil from your eyes

We are born to die
Not all of us will live
Some of us may try
We are born to die

Let the lights that dazzle your eyes
Fade away
Open them wide
Drink it in

It may be
The last thing you see
This time

Won’t you rip that veil
From your eyes

We are born to die
Not all of us will live
Some of us may try
We are born to die

I love starting with basslines, but have not done it yet. You've already inspired me and I love the atmospheric guitar/bass/drum interplay at the start. Powerful transition into the metal section that has all that awesome vocal harmony going on too. So many elements in this one and I like what you've done. FAWM pressure is a real thing, though, and I hope you can push through. Good job on this one!

The first lines I thought this will be a chill song bit the chorus hits hard. Big fan of the bassline and drums. Good experiment to start with a baseline. I should tru that next year!
