On My Way to the River

Liner Notes

My goal in this one was to write something abstract but still meaningful to me. I tend to write very literally. While abstract, there is still a very real story behind the writing.
I love a song about the river and the water. Don’t know why. Must have been that Missouri River I grew up around!

Lyrics

Lyrics:
I’ve seen you around
I know who you are
I recognize those beedy eyes
From the bridge across town

I’m not afraid
Look me in the eyes
There’s nothing you can do
I’m not falling for your lies

I’m on my way to the river
You can’t stop me now
I’m on my way to the river
You can’t stop me now
I’m on my way to the river
You can’t stop me now
I’ve paid my dues
I gotta get away from you

Been walking for days
About to lose my mind
Down low I saw a shadow
Out of the corner of my eye

I’m not afraid
Go ahead and try
There’s nothing you can do
I’m gonna kiss your ass, good-bye

I’m gonna wash in the river
Gonna wash clean….in the river
…and forget about you

Really in the groove with this one! I love rivers too, so naturally this lyric really appeals! Delivery is spot on, great timing! Good song

You can really hold down some serious rhythm on that uke! Love the swagger in your vocals and your kick it to the curb lyrics! RIvers pull us to them to help us let go, to receive wisdom, to get straight with oneself. I enjoyed going to yours very much!
