Lyrics

slam a note right on my desk
there's ink stains on your fingertips
pass it on, oh pretty please
i steal a look
you steal my breath
you might indifference me to death
walk down roads i used to know
searching for sweet relief

i'm standing by your mailbox
come on, let me inside
don't keep me wasting
with the weeds on the sidewalk
wondering for the rest of my life
i know you think you don't know me
but your outsides match my in
i'm tangled and knotted
hooked up and hanging
onto what this might've been

shove it into a locker or locket
a butterfly net for my stomach
let this dreamy feeling go to sleep
push me deep inside your pocket
along with all the other things
you never want to talk about
i can imagine the crossing of wires
but i'll fail to find out

i'm standing by your mailbox
come on, let me inside
don't keep me wasting
with the weeds on the sidewalk
wondering for the rest of my life
i know you think you don't know me
but your outsides match my in
i'm tangled and knotted
hooked up and hanging
onto what this might've been

a house connected by a line
your kindness is the cruelest kind
out of sight but in my mind
forever
forever

i'm standing by your mailbox
come on, let me inside
don't keep me wasting
with the weeds on the sidewalk
wondering for the rest of my life
i know you think you don't know me
but your outsides match my in
i'm tangled and knotted
hooked up and hanging
onto what this might've been
i know you think you don't know me
but your outsides match my in
i'm tangled and knotted
hooked up and hanging
onto what this might've been
i'm standing by your mailbox
come on, just let me in

love the narrative here! the metaphor is subtle but really ties the whole thing together, i especially love the lines "you might indifference me to death" and "a butterfly net for my stomach // let this dreamy feeling go to sleep". great work!

My favorite lines are "push me deep inside your pocket" and "out of sight but in my mind"... I really dig these lyrics and the story they hint at. Nice work!
