Lost

Lyrics

Got so close that I could see the light
One last race against old man time
But it's a long long way to the river's other side
Without you near life feels so hollow
Cold at the thought of more to follow
But It's a long long way to the river's other side
So I'll bring two coins oh to pay my fare
And I'll bring two more in case you decide to meet me there

I took a wife and we had some kids
Raised them up to be good men
But it's a long long way to the river's other side
I lived this life oh the best that I could
With what I had and with what I knew
But it's a long long way to the river's other side
So I'll bring two coins oh to pay my fare
And I'll bring two more in case you decide to meet me there

But we got lost along the way
We got lost along the way
We got lost along the way
We got lost along the way
We got lost along the way

Some rivers are wider than others, eh? I'm with @bethdesombre , the "race against old man time" image is a good one. Nice use of the harmony vocal.

Oooh! "One last race against old man time/ But it's a long long way to the river's other side" is such a great way to express that (and the repetition of the river phrase is effective). And also "'ll bring two coins oh to pay my fare/ And I'll bring two more in case you decide to meet me there."
