Liner Notes

We've been knocking this idea backwards and forwards for the last few days, so thought we'd stop faffing and just post it!

Liam came up the initial chords and lyrics, then Matt laid down his beat. I added a couple of guitars (one space echo chimey type thang, the other more Soundgarden circa 1991) and did the mix.

#alternativerock #grunge #melancholy #spacerock

If you've heard our first 3 choons hopefully the '4 U' in the title makes sense. If this is the first one you've heard from us, we've fallen into the idea of including the number of song we're up to in the title. A bit daft I guess, but it gives us a focus!

Lyrics

Hopelessly 4 U

With my favours on the ground and in despair
With the loving stare, cut through it somehow

With her hi lights in her hair and on the ground
Wish I hadn’t ever lost forever sound

With my halo rusting in the wind
I got more to listen to to begin

I have been hopelessly

Coming in stage joining my game, blowing in a rage
Winds blow me down, I have been hopelessly

Where are you? I be been hopelessly
I have been hopelessly
Where were you when I was reaching out

Drowning in the sand, wishing I can bend
In this version of me you be, no one betters the

I can’t be lost, I won’t return, I can never breath But it’s on me

I have been hopelessly

Drowning in the waves, I can’t complain
Wishing I had lost, wishing my love would stay
But that’s not me. That can’t be me

I was hopelessly - Falling for you, I was hopelessly

I’m on open ground,
Take it back don’t look around

Cos I’m on open ground

2 bars empty

I can not be seen, I can never see
That I was lost with you a distant memory

Taking up you time wishing on a dream
All that I can be is a memory

Taking up you time
Wishing I would learn, wishing that holding on to me

Cos I was hopelessly x 2
Waiting for you cos I was hoplessly

Lost on open aground, don’t look around

Be interested to know which numbers prove to be the easiest or hardest to work in. Four seems like it might be at the easier end of the scale, so this might get trickier...

Track sounds great - the drums are ace, it makes such a difference to have real drummer, both in the speed to get the drums where you want them (drum programming takes me ages, but maybe others find it quicker), but the feel too; and they sound great. There are some echoes of early Pearl Jam in the vocal delivery that I really enjoyed. And the guitars, as always, just rock! Knocking it out of the park this year!

Cool that you're going for it. I hope all these brilliant songs will be on the same album / EP someday soon.

This song has an interesting structure and vibe. Enjoyed the lead and drum parts.

Are you listening to a lot of 90s these days?!
