Under Glass

Liner Notes

This song is about living with MECFS especially in regards to friendship and dating
It is a neuroimmunal chronic illness and can make you bedridden either for sometime or permanently which really can mess with social life

In this song, I only used virtual instruments in GarageBand and a few samples as I wanted to create something that sounds more electronic/pup like also it’s easier to make music in the night or early morning because I can use headphones

Lyrics

So sick of searching
So sick of writing
So sick of being the one to reach out
So sick of explaining
So sick of remaining
The one who is calm while I feel so left out

It feels like I am under glass
While I watch you live your life
We can talk but you feel so far away
Like you're the earth and I'm a satellite

I wanna be your lover not just someone you know
I want to break out of this house of glass
I wanna feel hands on my skin
Why is that so hard for people to grasp

It feels like I am under glass
While I watch you live your life
We can talk but you feel so far away
Like you're the earth and I'm a satellite

So sick of waiting
So sick of hoping
That I might have the energy
My body is hurting
There's no concentrating
I would just like to do things with ease

I have a close family member who has MECFS, so this hits home, and hits hard. The cello is the perfect instrument choice for this.

You put it into words perfectly! Writing this from bed in a flare up... lol. It really does feel like everybody else is separated with glass or that weird thick plastic stuff. Really love the production and vocals here! The layers give a nice complexity that hints at the depth of these problems. Sick of being sick! Lovely work, sending good wishes to you <3

I do like the electronic vibes, and I love the "Like you're the earth and I'm a satellite" line, really powerful imagery of the message.
Even though I am across the planet, know that I do wish you well, and health.
Thank you for sharing this with us.
